Presentation Description / Summary: This lecture presents a new model to train and support veterinary students, interns and residents which has been designed to meet demands of the profession and provide solutions to some challenges faced by the veterinary education community and the profession at large. The model employs an integrated approach to training through three pillars: collaboration between the private and academic sector, utilization of technology for remote and on-demand learning, and development of an educational ecosystem to promote community and maximize cross-functional opportunities.
Learner Outcomes: 1. To understand the resources required to train a veterinary student for competency post vet school training 2. To understand the barriers to training veterinary students due to resource limitations 3. To understand some solutions which can be implemented to meet needs of the profession to allow for training more veterinary students and promote collaboration in the profession
