Diseases that result in chronic weight loss and wasting in adult sheep will be reviewed, with an emphasis on recent improvements in diagnostic capabilities, treatment modalities, and prevention and control strategies.

Learning Objectives:

  • Upon completion, participants will be able to select appropriate diagnostic testing methods for common diseases that cause chronic wasting in adult sheep.
  • Upon completion, participants will be able to describe treatment options for individual sheep and sheep flocks infected with common diseases that cause chronic wasting.
  • Upon completion, participants will be able to formulate appropriate prevention and control strategies for individual sheep and sheep flocks in regards to common diseases that cause chronic wasting.
