Presentation Description / Summary: The session will discuss the current recommendations regarding antimicrobial use when treating bovine mastitis, including both subclinical and clinical cases. It will also discuss future considerations for antimicrobial use in these cases and if we should be adjusting our recommendations. This presentation will include the latest research on this topic and interactive discussion points for the audience to consider.

  • The audience will learn which bovine mastitis cases should and should not be treated with intramammary antimicrobial therapy.
  • The audience will learn appropriate diagnostics steps that should be considered before instituting antimicrobial therapy in cases of bovine mastitis.
  • The audience will learn about antimicrobial alternatives that are currently being considered for the prevention of bovine mastitis.
