Equine Medicine Resident University Equine Hospital, Clinical Unit of Equine Internal Medicine, Vetmeduni Vienna, Vienna, Austria Vienna, Wien, Austria
In this session, the results of a prevalence study about subclinical infection of Equine Parvovirus-Hepatitis (EqPVH) among hospitalized horses in a University Equine Hospital in Austria will be presented. There is evidence that EqPVH can cause subclinical to fatal hepatitis, and epidemiologic studies are in its infancy. Also, the pathogenesis of how horses maintain subclinical infection or progress to fulminant hepatitis is not clear yet. In this manner, the infection routes and possible risk of hazards to hospitalized horses will be discussed.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, participant will gain basic knowledge about hepatic viruses.
Upon completion, participant will be informed about the Equine Parvovirus Hepatitis infection.
Upon completion, participant will be aware of the possible risk of hazards of Equine Parvovirus Hepatitis infection among hospitalized horses.
