Routine measurement of serum triglycerides in serum biochemistry panels can assist clinicians to detect canine hypercortisolism. The history of canine lipid disorders will be explored with a discussion of the impact of lack of routine measurement of serum triglycerides in dogs on diagnosis (and potentially treatment) of canine Cushing’s syndrome. The role of adrenal function testing in dogs with hypertriglyceridemia with potential sub-clinical hypercortisolism will also be presented. Attendees will also learn the importance of tight control of Cushing’s to resolve hypertriglyceridemia in this disease.
