Implementing an Antimicrobial Stewardship Program: Tertiary Care Hospital Lessons (Planned by ACVCP)

Presentation Description / Summary: This session will describe the development of the small animal antimicrobial stewardship program at Tufts University and lessons learned from efforts to track antimicrobial prescriptions, engage stakeholders including technicians and doctors, and develop local antibiograms. Components of veterinary stewardship programs will be reviewed, including a focus on the resources available to support program development. Special emphasis will be placed on engaging all team members including technicians and pet owners in the effort for judicious antimicrobial use.
