Sarah Jones is a fourth year veterinary student at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She began her journey in the veterinary field at the age of 14, volunteering at a local animal shelter. This led to her first job in the field as a veterinary assistant. In 2009, she graduated summa cum laude with an Associates of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology. As a Registered Veterinary Technician she taught as a college level educator for six years in a Veterinary Technology program, as well as worked in specialty and emergency medicine, while earning the necessary credits for her veterinary school application. She has led numerous projects supplying free veterinary care for underprivileged demographics, and has also facilitated several free spay and neuter clinics. At Ohio State, Sarah spent her first summer participating in the Stanton Summer Externship Program, and her second participating in the Student Summer Research Program, working on her research Survey of Defecation Frequency in Apparently Healthy and Chronic Kidney Disease Cats. She has also assisted her mentor in several other research projects focusing on chronic kidney disease in cats. Sarah has a strong interest in small animal Internal Medicine, specifically kidney disease and feline medicine; her hope is the pursue specialty accreditation after graduation.
