Mireille Meylan has studied veterinary medicine at the University of Bern, Switzerland. After working in practice and at the University of Bern, where she obtained her doctoral degree, she completed an ACVIM residency and a MS thesis at the Ohio State University, before returning to Switzerland where she obtained her PhD and her habilitation. She is a Diplomate of the ACVIM and of the ECBHM (European College of Bovine Health Management). She is a full professor for ruminant medicine at the University of Bern. Her main research interests include antimicrobial use and resistance, infectious diseases and gastrointestinal disorders in cattle.
