Dr. Avery is the Director of the Clinical Immunology Laboratory at Colorado State University, and a Professor in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Pathology. The primary focus of the Clinical Immunology Laboratory is the understanding of lymphoproliferative disorders at the clinical and molecular level, and how those disorders relate to the normal functions of cells of the immune system. She received her VMD from University of Pennsylvania, a PhD from Cornell, and completed a 3 year post doctoral fellowship at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston before moving to Colorado State University.
