Her work currently focuses on plasma concentration levels of Syndecan-1 in equine patients that are undergoing sepsis/systemic inflammation. Her previous training experiences, include working as a research assistant at UNCC in Dr. Nesmelova’s Bioinformatics laboratory and creating a thesis project regarding the use of teaching models for IV catheter placement in large animal patients. During her time at MU she has been actively involved in equine patient care, research design for her master’s thesis project, and with data collection and organization for the Syndecan-1 project. Her particular interest is finding better target molecules for equine sepsis/systemic inflammation that can eventually be used for targeted treatments.
