Director, Veterinary Science
Banfield Pet Hospital
WASHOUGAL, Washington, United States
I am currently the Director of Veterinary Science at Banfield Pet Hospital. Myself and my team focus on: aligning expertise in clinical medicine with medical record data to drive new innovation and discovery in the provision of veterinary care (aligned with our lifestage wellness roadmap); developing and enhancing patient outcome improvement programs as we work to individualize and personalize care; investigating value based veterinary care; the continued development of medical quality standards (clinical essentials and best practices) in our ongoing quality journey. I lead our internal and external quality audits, am a certified lead auditor trained (LRQA) and serve as the Banfield representative on the Mars Veterinary Health Science and Clinical Studies Council. I joined Banfield Pet Hospital CTS as a senior manager on the veterinary programs team - primarily to provide a strategic medical viewpoint, enhance the research and analytics process in decision making, and assist with developing medical quality standards. Previously, I was a faculty member at Iowa State University's College of Veterinary Medicine for 11 years, serving as the service chief for small animal internal medicine and the residency program advisor. I am board certified in small animal internal medicine and have a master's degree in veterinary clinical sciences.
