Isabella Corsato Alvarenga is a DVM originally from Brazil, who earned her MS and PhD at Kansas State University under the mentorship of Dr. Greg Aldrich. Her main fields of research were on producing dog dry foods with sorghum fractions and determining their digestibility and antioxidant capacity in dogs, and extrusion modifications of corn-based foods to retain greater resistant starch in the kibble that benefits the dog's gut microbiome.
Currently, Isabella is a post-doctorate at Colorado State University conducting research on cannabidiol (CBD) long-term tolerability by research dogs, as well as on the effect of CBD on chronic anxiety of client-owned dogs. Her future goal is to develop pet foods or supplements that will improve pets quality of life and longevity.
