Dr. Vail received his DVM from the University of Saskatchewan and completed an internship/oncology residency from Colorado State University. He is Professor and Barbara A. Suran Chair in Comparative Oncology at the University of Wisconsin. He has published over 200 manuscripts, 50 book chapters and is co-editor of Small Animal Clinical Oncology (6th Ed). He served as President of the Veterinary Cancer Society and Scientific Advisory Board chair for the Morris Animal Foundation and the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine Foundation. He has received both the Mark Morris Distinguished Research Award and the Pfizer Award for Research Excellence.
