I am a diplomate ACVIM (Neurology) and diplomate ECVN, Ph.D., professor and head of the section of neurology, epilepsy and physical therapy at LMU Munich, Germany, since 2002.
I graduated from LMU Munich in 1987, completed doctoral research in 1991, then was lucky to have the possibility to do a residency in neurology at the University of Georgia under the supervision of John Oliver and became diplomate ACVIM (neurology) in 1995, Ph.D. In 2000 and mother of 2 children in 2002 and 2003.
I published now close to 100 original publications in peer-reviewed journals, many of them on epilepsy issues, I was a member of the International Veterinary Epilepsy Task Force and initiated research in Rhodesian Ridgebacks which led to the discovery of a monogenic recessively inherited JME juvenile myoclonic epilepsy in Rhodesian Ridgebacks. Since then I have been increasingly involved in treatment studies in drug-resistant epilepsy in dogs.
