This talk will teach about the spectrum of contributors to hyperlipidemia, including primary and secondary forms. Attendees will learn how to recognize clinical consequences of hyperlipidemia, including risk for proteinuria, hepatic pathology, pancreatitis, and gallbladder mucoceles. They will learn how to implement evidence-based dietary and pharmacologic therapies. Attendees will gain knowledge about expected treatment responses, monitoring, and what to do when initial management strategies are insufficient.

Learning Objectives:

  • Upon completion, participants will be able to describe different presentations of hyperlipidemia.
  • Upon completion, participants will understand the clinical consequences of hyperlipidemia and be able to apply this knowledge to the monitoring and care plan for their patients.
  • Upon completion, participants will be able to implement dietary and pharmacologic therapies for hyperlipidemia.
