Camels in the Large Animal Hospital: Exams, Restraint, Sedation, and Common Diagnoses

Presentation Description / Summary: This session will focus on old world camelids presented to the large animal veterinary care team at large animal hospitals. Common terminology, and physical exam parameters will be covered. Methods of sedation and restraint will be presented and discussed. Approaches to common diagnostic techniques as well as common disease presentations will be presented with case reports integrated into the lecture.

Learner Outcomes: 1. The audience will appreciate approaches to and common physical exam findings in the camel patient. 2. Attendees will review restraint and sedation techniques for camels. 3. Common diagnostics and disease presentations will be reviewed for a working knowledge of camel health.
