Presentation Description / Summary: Discussion of key communication tools and infrastructure that give every team member a voice. How team communication tools from the military can improve the culture of safety in hospitals. Richard will discuss the science and data behind TeamSTEPPS and the impact of communication breakdowns on patient safety.

Learner Outcomes: Learners will gain an understanding of common communication gaps in healthcare settings, the impact of communication on patient safety, implementation examples will be shared, and fundamental communication frameworks will be reviewed that are applicable in specialty veterinary environments.
