Presentation Description / Summary: Initially a reasonable response is noted in majority of the medical oncology cases. However with time as the disease relapses the second remission is difficult to accomplish. Sometimes the initial or first line of therapy fails. Some of the known mechanisms of such failures will be discussed in this session.
Learner Outcomes: Better understanding of the treatment failure or disease progression in patients undergoing systemic chemotherapy.
Learning Objectives:
Understand the concept why initial remission and relapse can be two different disease processes.
Mechanism of multiple drug resistance.
Can certain cancers be inherently resistance or resistance is always acquired.
