SIG: Equine Endocrinology

Equine endocrinology disorders are one of the most common cases equine practitioners and specialists are faced, and are considered major welfare issue to the equine community.  Unfortunately, diagnosis, management, and seasonal considerations are not straight forward which can lead to frustration both for the veterinarian and client. The purpose of this SIG is to bring together general practitioners, specialists, residents and researchers to have an open discussion centered on endocrinology topics important to the equine community.  Topics presented in the SIG are based on the needs and interest of the community and offers an interactive space for:

(1)    Case based discussion to provide feedback from a variety of experts in the field.

(2)    Small group discussion on controversial topics.

(3)    Considerations in best practices for diagnostic testing and patient management. 

(4)    Offering late breaking research updates and recommendations from the Equine Endocrinology Group.

(5)    Identifying community research priorities

(6)    Building collaborations and networking opportunities

(7)    New researchers to discuss projects and obtain constructive feedback.
