Cystoscopic tissue manipulation can be technically challenging, and hemorrhage may often obscure clear visualization of the urinary tract. Use of a urologic resectoscope provides exceptional control of tissue coagulation and provides new methods of tissue handling. Ectopic ureter ablation, transurethral resection of bladder and urethral tumors, and cystoscopic polypectomy can be performed effectively with minimal patient risk. This session will review resectoscope technology, indications, risks, and techniques on commonly performed procedures.
Learning Objectives:
To become familiar with indications for resectoscope cystoscopy
Learn techniques and application of the resectoscope for managing ectopic ureters and lower urinary tract bladder tumors.
Identify how to overcome procedural risks and how to become comfortable incorporating this instrument into your practice.
