Neurologist/Neurosurgeon Charlotte Animal Referral and Emergency Charlotte, North Carolina, United States
Presentation Description / Summary: The objective of the session is to aid clinical neurologists in maximizing the diagnostic yield from their current MRI setup.
Learner Outcomes: 1. How to optimize their current imaging protocols including: 1. Coil Selection 2. Identifying current Signal to Noise Ratio and how to adjust based on image quality 3. Sequence selection for most efficient but thorough diagnostic yield 2. Alternative sequence acquisitions for select scenarios and how to eliminate artifacts. 1. Radial acquisitions for moving patients 2. When to use parallel imaging 3. When to choose an asymmetric FOV. 3. An introduction to less utilized sequences. 1. Novel Hemorrhage sequences (SWI)vs. traditional T2* 2. 3D T2W Imaging 3. Sequences that optimize bone evaluation 4. When to choose isotropic acquisitions (3D T1W vs. 2D) 4. How to leverage imaging software for maximal image evaluation
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, the participant will demonstrate competency in optimizing standard MRI protocol.
Upon completion, the participant will recognize the advantages of susceptibility weighted imaging, radial aquisitions, and 3D T2 weighted data sets to standard imaging protocols.
Upon completion, the participant will demonstrate competency in utilizing free imaging software to optimize diagnostic yield from MR images.
