Presentation Description / Summary: 

This session will provide an overview of the current findings in the underlying etiology of equine neuroaxonal dystrophy / degenerative myeloencephalopathy (eNAD/EDM).





Learning Objectives:

  • (1) Describe the clinicopathologic findings underlying eNAD/EDM
  • (2) Understand the current research underway to identify the underlying genetic etiology of eNAD/EDM
  • (3) Describe how to use the phosphorylated neurofilament heavy (pNfH) biomarker test to support a presumptive diagnosis of eNAD/EDM
