Principles of respiratory function will be discussed including gas exchanges and mechanics of breathing. Clinical applications of respiratory function testing including arterial blood gases and lung mechanics will be presented using case examples.
By the end of this session, you will be able to: 1) Understand the relationship between respiratory structure and function; 2) Utilize gas exchanges principles to interpret arterial blood gases; 3) Understand pulmonary function testing principles.
