Presentation Description / Summary: Current regulations for parimutuel racing in the US will be discussed. The primary focus will be regulations regarding the use of therapeutic medications and estimated withdrawal times.

Learner Outcomes: Identify the regulatory bodies responsible for medication control in pari-mutuel horseracing in the United States.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify the regulatory body that is applicable to their client's racehorse.
  • Know where to find detection times and recommended withdrawal guidelines relevant to their client's racehorse for therapeutic medications.
  • Understand how detection times differ from recommended withdrawal times.
