Presentation Description / Summary: An introduction to the physics behind the formation of images within an MRI scanner, including a more detailed guide to common image artifacts found in veterinary MRI scanning and how to reduce their impact on image quality and interpretation.

Learner Outcomes: To get a fresh perspective of MRI physics and image formation at a level appropriate for operating MRI scanners and interpreting the resultant images. To learn more about common image artifacts found in veterinary MRI and tips and tricks to help reduce their impact on image quality.

Learning Objectives:

  • Upon completion, participants will be able to better understand and describe the important aspects of MRI physics and image formation.
  • Upon completion, participants will be able to better understand MRI image artifacts and potential methods to reduce their impact on image quality and accurate diagnosis.
  • Upon completion, participants will be able to develop improved MRI scan protocols for accurate veterinary diagnostic imaging.
