Laminitis continues to have a major impact on horse wellbeing, however our ability to control the endocrine disorders that commonly underly it is improving rapidly. This discussion will focus on applying the latest evidence in order to more effectively prevent and treat laminitis associated with endocrine disease in the clinic.

Learning Objectives:

  • Upon completion, participants will be able to recognize and diagnose the important endocrine disorders that lead to laminitis in horses and ponies
  • Upon completion, participants will be able to formulate a rational approach to treatment of horses and ponies with laminitis caused by underlying endocrine disease
  • Upon completion, participants will be able to effectively monitor horses and ponies with endocrine disease to prevent further episodes of active laminitis
