After graduating with a bachelor's degree in Animal Biosciences from the University of Guelph, Persephone McCrae went on to complete a doctoral degree in Veterinary Medical Sciences at the University of Calgary under the supervision of Dr. Renaud Leguillette. Her doctoral work in equine exercise physiology was focused on the conditioning effects of equine water treadmill exercise. Dr. McCrae went on to work as an Assistant Professor of Equine Physiology at Sul Ross State University in Texas, before returning to Canada as a Lead Scientist in R&D of the Animal Science Division of Myant Inc. Dr. McCrae is currently a postdoctoral scholar at the University of Guelph, where her research focuses on developing smart textile technologies for equine cardiovascular monitoring.
