Tine Schliewert received her veterinary degree from the Tierärztliche Hochschule in Hannover, Germany and, following an internship at the Université de Liège and a few years in private practice, completed her residency at the University of Illinois. She worked as the head of internal medicine at the Tierklinik Lüsche in Germany until 2018, when she accepted a position as Senior Lecturer at the University of Pretoria in South Africa. The exposure to exotic infectious disease motivated her to research African Horse Sickness and Tine is now in the final stages of her PhD on the “Investigation of hematologic, inflammatory, and hemostatic changes in horses experimentally infected with African Horse Sickness”.
