Dr. McKenzie received his DVM degree from The University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 1990 and was then in private equine practice in Maryland until 1995. Dr. McKenzie completed an Equine Internal Medicine Residency program at the Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center in Leesburg, VA in 1998. Dr. McKenzie achieved Diplomate status in the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in 2000, and is currently an Associate Professor of Large Animal Medicine and Equine Section Chief at the Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in Blacksburg, VA. Dr. McKenzie is the author or coauthor of over 30 journal articles and 20 book chapters. His research interests include respiratory disease, pharmacology, analgesic therapy, aerosol therapy and critical care.
