Radiography remains the most available and cost-effective imaging modality in general practice and it corresponds to the area of our strongest expertise.
Every one of our board-certified radiologists are acutely aware of the level of reporting and clinical advice referring physicians expect from a radiology report. We aim to help you triage your patients effectively and in a timely fashion with guaranteed interpretations as low as 1 hour for STAT cases.
CT is an advanced imaging modality only available to referral centers or large emergency practices as image acquisition requires advanced technical skills – often only reasonably achieved by registered radiology technicians. Multidetector CT scanners acquire a spiraling volume of data, which then gets reconstructed in any image plane (including 3D rendering) using different algorithms according to the imaged body part. CT is excellent for assessing the thorax, skull, and the appendicular skeleton.
MRI is a very complex and technically challenging modality. It is reserved for referral centers and nicely complements the areas of limitations of CT. It is incredibly capable at resolving different soft tissue types and is therefore excellent at distinguishing different neurological tissues (eg white vs grey matter) and diseases affecting these specific tissues.
This modality has found its way in many general practices but interpretations have traditionally been a challenge as the learning curve with this modality is very steep. A high skill level can therefore only be reached by scanning on a regular basis which is why having a teleradiology partner is crucial. Vets Choice radiologists have had extensive training in ultrasound and confidently interpret ultrasound studies which they didn’t personally acquire.
There’s no contract or minimum requirement, so you can send as many or as few studies as you wish. Images and reports are archived for five years.
