Complete and accurate pathogen identification to guide the design of targeted and accurate therapies for pets.

About us

The MiDOG All-in-One Test is an infectious disease diagnostic tool that uses microbiome science to accurately determine the microbial culprits causing infectious diseases in animals. MiDOG uses DNA-evidence to detect and quantify all bacterial and fungal pathogens in clinical samples from pets, along with antibiotic susceptibility information for more than 40 antibiotics. Therefore, the MiDOG All-in-One Test offers the most accurate diagnosis of infections in all pets, faster than culture and sensitivity and more comprehensive than PCR panels.

Meet Azriel, the resilient 6-year-old breeding Colombian Boa who overcame a challenging health hurdle with the help from Dr. Lofgren from Mountain West Veterinary Specialists! Azriel was struggling with granulomatous lesions in her mouth, making eating very difficult. Despite previous treatments by her referring veterinarian with amikacin and ceftaz, the issue persisted for a month. Nidovirus tests came back negative, leaving us searching for answers. With insights from the MiDOG All-in-One Test, Dr. Lofgren made a crucial switch in treatment to azithromycin and metronidazole. Over the course of three weeks, Azriel showed remarkable improvement and finally found relief from her discomfort. It's worth noting that she was also diagnosed as IBD positive and gravid, factors that likely contributed to her immune suppression and susceptibility to infection. Azriel's journey is a testament to the power of advanced diagnostics and tailored treatments. We're thrilled to have played a part in her recovery and look forward to seeing her thrive! 🌿💊 #VeterinarySuccessStories #SnakeHealth #AdvancedDiagnostics …………………………………………………………… 🧬 MiDOG's All-in-One diagnostic test, utilizing Next-Gen Sequencing technology, offers a comprehensive solution for finding the true cause of infections. Bees play a crucial part in our ecosystem, and the decline in their populations emerges as a global concern. Many pathogens impact the health of the hives and among the researchers contributing significantly to the understanding of bee pathobiome and microbiomes is Dr. Joerg Mayer from the The University of Georgia. Watch our interview to learn more, especially how veterinarians can help to prevent the spread of super bugs among the bee populations. The dedication and hard work of the Care for Wild team is inspiring. Care for Wild is a globally recognized conservation organization dedicated to preserving endangered species and safeguarding the precious biodiversity of our planet. As the largest orphaned rhino sanctuary in the world, they specialize in the rescue, rehabilitation, rewilding, and protection of orphaned and injured rhinos. We are humbled to be able to have helped diagnose infections of some of their rhinos. Please learn more about this amazing organization here and read about Arthur's rescue below: https://careforwild.co.za/ ARTHUR'S STORY In the early hours of Sunday 20th May 2018, the section ranger in Kruger National Park (KNP) received a radio call from field rangers alerting him to gun shots in the Skukuza area. The SANParks helicopters were deployed and soon found a deceased rhino cow whose horns had been brutality removed. Lying next to her was her small calf.    SANParks Veterinarian, Dr Peter Buss was called to the scene where he established that the machete injuries to the young calf’s back and foot were likely sustained when he tried to fight and chase the poachers away from his dying mom.   At 12:50 Care for Wild (CFW) received a notification that Arthur was en route to the sanctuary and would arrive by helicopter within 15 minutes. Arthur’s arrival was a moment forever imprinted in our minds and our souls. Tiny Arthur, who weighed just 80kg, was sleeping in blankets in the back of the helicopter. A tiny, miniature rhino calf, so small, he could be easily carried to the back of the CFW vehicle. Petronel made an urgent call to veterinary professionals as well as plastic surgeon, Dr. Nolene du Plessis, as Arthur had a machete wound to his back and front right toe. Arthur was given an extensive veterinary examination and miraculously, there was no damage to his spine. His injuries were cleaned, dressed, and bandaged. Just a few hours after his arrival, Arthur began to wake up and took his first bottle of milk. A sure sign of hope. Arthur’s personality quickly came to light. A little ray of sunshine; full of energy, positivity, and playfulness. Despite the horrific treatment Arthur and his mom endured, he trusted his human caregivers very quickly. Over the next few months Arthur’s wounds began to heal under the care and support of veterinary professionals, and the dedication of the CFW team. Whilst still in the ICU, Arthur was introduced to fellow orphan, Summer, and have become inseparable ever since.    Arthur was later awarded a badge of bravery by the children of the Voortrekkers and received numerous cards from children all over the world. His story of bravery and courage effected thousands of people.       #CareForWild #ConservationHeroes #EndangeredSpecies #BiodiversityProtection #RhinoRescue #WildlifeConservation #RhinoSanctuary #WildlifeRehabilitation #AnimalWelfare #WildlifeProtection #GlobalConservation #EnvironmentalAwareness #WildlifeRecovery
