About us
Cornell University Veterinary Specialists (CUVS) is a veterinary specialty and emergency center located in Stamford, CT. As the largest, and one of very few university-owned veterinary referral centers in the country, CUVS redefines the delivery of veterinary specialty medicine by bringing together the best of academia with the best of specialty private practice. We differ from other veterinary specialty hospitals in that we are university-affiliated and mission-driven. Our mission is to provide the most sophisticated and compassionate patient care, to contribute to the advancement of companion animal medicine and to contribute to our community. We are integrated with the diagnostic, research and education programs of Cornell’s leading College of Veterinary Medicine, and all net revenue from CUVS supports Cornell’s educational and discovery missions. CUVS is purely a referral and emergency center and does not offer general practice. Our specialties include: Emergency & Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Soft Tissue and Orthopedic Surgery, Oncology, Cardiology, Ophthalmology, Dentistry & Oral Surgery, Dermatology and Radiology. Many of our specialists are world-renowned in their fields, active in clinical research, widely published and sought-after as lecturers. We are open 24/7 for emergencies and are specialist-staffed, 7 days a week. Our ICU and Emergency Service are run by board-certified critical care specialists and an outstanding nursing staff, offering unparalleled Emergency and Critical Care expertise. CUVS provides exceptional medical care by integrating the latest medical and scientific advances with compassion and with personalized, efficient service. We collaborate closely with the pet owner, the primary care veterinarian and other specialists to provide the best options possible for each and every pet.

In a 2022 Veterinarian Wellbeing Study conducted by Merck Animal Health and AVMA, research showed that 30.5% of veterinarians and 49.6% of veterinary staff reported experiencing high levels of burnout in 2021. Job burnout can lead to a whole host of mental health and anxiety issues. May is Mental Health and Anxiety Awareness Month. Mental health, just like your physical health, is extremely important. To get a better idea of your mental health, check out Mental Health America’s online screening tests. It will help you identify what kinds of mental health challenges you may be facing and the steps to take to help yourself heal. https://buff.ly/49YCvOJ #MentalHealthAwareness #AnxietyAwarenessMonth #mentalhealthconditions #mentalhealthresources #mentalhealthcheck #mentalhealthassessment
