Presentation Description / Summary: Updated Consensus Statement on Leptospirosis in Dogs.
This presentation will describe draft updated recommendations for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of leptospirosis in dogs. Information on the disease in cats will also be presented.
Learner Outcomes: Know current leptospiral taxonomy as it relates to understanding epidemiology and prevention
Know importance of cats and dogs in the epidemiology of leptospirosis worldwide
Know risk factors for infection of dogs and clinical abnormalities
Understand recommended approach for diagnosis of leptospirosis and limitations of currently available diagnostic tests
Know risk of zoonotic transmission from dogs and prevention practices
Understand vaccination recommendations.
